Amsterdam for Gays!

The Amsterdam Gay pride is an event that is held once a year in August. Normally the festival lasts for around 3 days, on one of these 3 days is the big gay canal parade. During this parade you will see around 100 boats colorfully decorated floating through the canals of Amsterdam.

This year is the fourteenth time that the Gay pride is held in Amsterdam. This event attracts around 350.000 people and tourists.

For three days you can find all gay parties and festivals in bars and clubs in the center of Amsterdam. On the day of the Canal parade the streets are turned into one big party scene, you will find music podium, outside bars, and dance stages every were. For you straight tourist girls it is definitely the best day to visit Amsterdam as your eyes will fall out seeing nude man or in tiny towels passing by. This party is however not just for spotting men, you will also see many lesbian boats and girls dancing through the city, so even a good tourist visit for you boys!

On each boot you will see gays “sparsely” dressed dancing on the loudly music that fills the canals of Amsterdam. Straight people decided to add their boat to show their solidarity. Even the fire brigades of Amsterdam have entered the Gay parade boat tour.

The goal of the Canal Parade is to show the public how broad and divers the gay community in the Netherlands is. Besides a lot of party boats, with men and women in extreme outfits, you will also see boats of the government of Amsterdam with the minister of Amsterdam showing his openness. Even priests and important people of Religious communities enter the boat parade.

If you are interested to visit any Gay Clubs during your stay in Amsterdam, you should check out one of these places. One is the Cockring, the Club exit, Club roque and Club stereo.

If you want to visit one of the famous gay night parties go to the weekly held gay night 'Trut' (bitch). You can go here every Sunday night at the Bilderdijkstraat 165.

Besides special gay bars and clubs, there are many places who are gay friendly. Here you will find straight and gay mixed. One of these parties is Vreemd (weird) at club the Sugar Factory. Vreemd is held every week, once a month they have a party called extra vreemd (really weird) with strange dj's and acts. If you want to visit Vreemd go to the Lijnbaansgracht 238

Another good party to bring a visit is: (Zonde) in club Paradiso at the Weteringschans 6-8

And for those of you who are looking for an European escort boy, bring a visit at bar the Music box, in the Paarden straat 9.

For tips on gay news you need to go to the ‘Pink Point’, (at the Westermarkt, on the Keizersgracht) a gay and lesbian information kiosk.

Next to the Pink point you can find the ‘Homomonument’, a gay monument.Near the Anne Frank house, as a symbol of Holland’s tolerance.
