Aciklama: The impressive Misti Volcano (5822m) has strong historical significance for the city of Arequipa and is a popular trek as its summit can be reached relatively quickly. We leave Arequipa in a 4x4 at 8.30am to go to the northern base of Misti, at 3,800m we start our walk, characterised by the views of puna (highlands), sandy terrain and remains of volcanic ash. After a short stop for lunch, we will continue walking to the base camp (4,800m) where we will arrive after approximately 6 hours. After a simple meal we will rest to get up very early the following day. ( Camp Mont. Blanc ) We will get up very early, at 1am and have breakfast. We will then begin the climb carrying only light equipment, with a walk of 4 hours, taking a rest at 5,600m. Later we will continue the climb, which is harder, and when we reach the summit (5825m) we will have impressive views of an enormous crater and another smaller one which often emits gases. The earth has a sulphur colour. We will walk to the point known as the Cruz del Misti (Misti Cross) which is over 100 years old, and boast a spectacular view of the city of Arequipa, and the snow-capped peaks of Chachani, Pichu pichu, Coropuna and Ampato. We will stay here for around 30 minutes and then we will begin the descent to base camp, have a short break and descend to the transport waiting for us. We will return to Arequipa at approximately 3.30pm.
