This Safari will take you to Selous Game Reserve, the largest game reserve in Africa, covering about 55,000 square kilometers, 5% of Tanzania's land. (nearly as large as Ireland) Selous is one of the largest fauna reserves of the world. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to the diversity of its wildlife and undisturbed nature Large numbers of elephants, Lions, Zebras, black rhinoceroses, cheetahs, giraffes, hippopotamuses and crocodiles live in this immense sanctuary The Reserve is crossed by Rufiji and Ruaha rivers, its landscape is dominated by the dry woodlands along the meandering Rufiji river and its tributaries. Selous is named in honor of Capt. Frederick G Selous, a British explorer, hunter, and conservationist who died in 1917 while fighting against the Germans during World War I and buried in the reserve. Activities in this Safari includes Game drive, Walking safari (Selous is the only park in Tanzania where walking safari is permitted) and Boat drive.

What will I see in Boat driveBoat drive along banks of Rufiji river is a good opportunity to view different animals looking for water. Rufiji river is also full of hippos and crocodiles
What will I see in Walking SafariWalks are done early morning or late afternoon, accompanied by an armed professional guide. All walks are at a slow leisurely pace usually covering about about 13 km. This is like a game drive but you get to view animals closer.
What to bringGuests should bring closed comfortable walking shoes, safari colored clothing (green, brown, khaki), binoculars, hats and sun cream.
