Popis: Day 1 - Leaving Edinburgh at 8.30 a.m. we meander our way into the Highlands. First stop is Stirling and Braveheart Country (William Wallace, King Robert the Bruce and Rob Roy MacGregor) – you’ll hear all the history and legends, with plenty of walks and time off the bus. Then we wind our way up to breathtaking Glencoe (hear about the massacre of Clan MacDonald) to do a fantastic walk. Tonight is spent just west of Fort William in the shaddow of Ben Nevis (our highest mountain) at Banavie.

Day 2 – This morning we make our way down the Road to the Isles with stops at Glenfinnan (where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the Royal Standard) and the beaches at Morar. We then take the traditional ferry journey over to the Isle of Skye for a full and active afternoon with lots of walks and time to take in the magic. You’ll discover the Cuillin Mountains and the West Coast of Skye which is perfect preparation for a few wee drams in the Edinbane Hotel where we'll be dumping our backpacks to enjoy local live music.

Day 3 – Today will be a day of tales and legends as we visit the Old Man of Storr (an incredible Jurassic pillar), take in Kilt Rock, be amazed at absolutely awe-inspiring panoramas in the Quirang and see if we can find any faeries hiding at the Faerie Glen. In the afternoon we make our way onto the mainland and (weather permitting) we'll find Neil, a local fisherman, who will take us out on an amazing boat trip to spot some seals and try some local seafood. Then it's onto the romantic Eilean Donan Castle (where Highlander was filmed) before reaching Loch Ness for some monster hunting – we stay in a cosy hostel tonight, right near the banks of Loch Ness at Lewiston - close enough for a night time wander to the Loch and the ruins of Urqhart Castle, if you are up for it.

Day 4 - We begin today with an emotional visit to tragic Culloden battlefield (Bonnie Prince Charlie’s last stand), next on to the mysterious Clava Cairns before heading southwards through the Cairngorm Mountains. We’ll stop for a gentle forest walk to stretch the legs and a visit to a whisky distillery. Then it is a short drive home to Edinburgh, tired and happy honorary Scots!!

What to bring

Just to give you an idea, there’s a short list below.

Sense of humour! Towel, camera, decent shoes that you can walk in, waterproofs, swimsuit, lunch & beer money.

**Sleeping bags are not required as bedding is provided**

Kitty system

The kitty is a cash payment made on the morning of tour departure which saves you money. By traveling as a group we are able to get discounts at hostels etc. which we can then pass directly onto you. It is a one off payment and will cover the following: 1. Hostel accommodation on the tour 2. Breakfasts (help yourself continental style – cereals/breads/spreads/fruit etc) 3. Evening meals (we cook together in a group coordinated by your driver-guide) 4. Ferry crossings (applicable to 4 day, 5 day Orkney, 6 day Hebridean, 7 day Orkney and 9 day tours) 5. Boat trips (applicable to 4 day, 6 day Hebridean, 7 day Orkney and 9 day tours).

We do not schedule many stops that involve an entrance fee. For those that we do, the kitty will cover it as we believe these are the unmissable stops you would want to pay for i.e. Skara Brae on Orkney. We run flexible tours which means we can make the most of special events such as Highland Games and can adapt for wet weather. The itinerary may change to include something extra that requires an entrance fee. In these circumstances it’s up to yourself to pay the entrance fee if you would like to go in.

For the 4 Day Skye and Highlands Tour the kitty is £60 per person. This is compulsory and is in addition to the tour price.

Departure & return point

All of our tours depart from and return to our office. They leave at 8.30am so check in is at 8.15am. The kitty money is also collected at this point. We arrive back from tour around 6.30pm. Airport pickups can be organised but make sure you give us as much details as you can when booking.
